Currawa Primary School No 3907
Located at the Dookie Agricultural College, the school accommodates the children of the staff of the
College as well as those from neighbouring farms. The official opening took place on 15th of July
1915, when the schoolroom was in the rear of the Principal’s residence. The first Head Teacher,
Phoebe E. Reed, enrolled 15 pupils. In 1922, a school sited at Gowangardie, 6 miles South of the
College, was moved by bullock team and placed on an 11 acre site given by the College. During 1959-
60 a new room and corridor were added, the very old building was extensively renovated, and the
yard and assembly area were asphalted. Net attendance at the end of 1968 was 25.
