Pine Lodge No 2099

A petition by local residents succeeded in having this school established in a leased building,
the Methodist Free Church, on 29th of November 1878. The Net Enrolment of 12 worked under
Head Teacher G. Rudd. In 1887, a new building was erected on the present site. Upon the applications
of the next two teachers, Misses Gourley and then Deacon, a two-room residence, transported
from SS2187 Bloomfield, was erected in the grounds. A diphtheria epidemic assisted in having
the old overcrowded classroom replaced by a larger one which the District Inspector opened in 1915.
A new residence, erected at the same time, was occupied by Head Teacher Lewis. The two latest
classrooms were erected in 1962.
