Toolamba West No 1674
also known as Toolamba Central
The present modern two-room school stands on the original site, approximately 2 miles East of Tatura,
on land donated by Ferguson. The school first opened on 1st of January 1876 under Head Teacher
Henry M. Williams, and the original one-room weatherboard building stood until demolished in 1965.
From 1904, the development of irrigation caused a drift of farmers to the area, many of the parents
being orchardists. A residence was built in 1951. Among the teaching staff, well-remembered is Mrs Walter,
who taught here, for twenty-six years.
